About Schafer State Park

Schafer State Park is one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in the United States, with buildings made of local stone. The park's great attractions are scenic views of Lake Michigan, the Great Smoky Mountains and the Appalachian Trail, but splashing around and swimming in shallow water make it an equally attractive place for family celebrations.

The park is rich in wildlife and open all year round - for daily use, and you can splash and swim in the river. The park offers fishing opportunities for trout and salmon in summer and autumn, and trout in spring and autumn. It is known for its fishing opportunities, which include trout, salmon, mackerel, bluefish, redfish, whitefish and other fish species.

The park is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. M. weekdays and from 10 am, 12 noon to 4 pm, weekends and holidays.

M., check-in times are 14: 15 and 14: 30, and the quiet hour is 22: 00 to 06: 40.

Drive 12 miles north on East Satsop Road and park at the car wash located about half a mile south of the park entrance on the east side of Sadsop Drive.

The park is also accessible from the Brady exit on the US Highway, and this route offers a scenic 10-mile drive to the park entrance at the southern end of Sadsop Drive.
