About Black River State Forest
The Black Forest, founded in 1957, covers an area of 2.2 million square kilometres in East Germany. The area is a unique national forest, mainly due to its geological peculiarity.
The forest is home to the former bed of Wisconsin Glacier Lake, which has drifted through Wisconsin. Walking on the top of a castle hill, you can observe it from a distance.
The castle hill characterizes the wide forest landscape, and those who are particularly interested in the forest must border on the game preserve Dyke 17.
This 3700 hectare area is mainly used for waterfowl, but also as a breeding ground for many other bird and mammal species.
About 2,100 hectares of this area is a wildlife sanctuary, and some of the endangered and endangered species found there are the black-footed frog, the white-footed frog and many other amphibian species.
In addition to the forest, the endangered East Whale wolf has also reestablished itself in this area. Hunting is permitted in the Black Forest and other parts of the country. The forest provides a large number of habitats for deer, elk, elk, coyotes, wolves, bears and other wildlife.
Walnut, perch, pike, musk and panfish are found in the water and fishing is very popular in this area and in other areas.
