About Curt Gowdy State Park

Curt Gowdy State Park is home to a diverse flora and fauna that graces the foothills of the Laramie Mountains. It is located north of Fort Collins, Colorado, about 30 miles northwest of Denver and is the largest national park in the state of Colorado.

There is a small reservoir to catch water from the Colorado River, the largest in the state of Colorado with a capacity of 2,500 cubic feet per second. The granite offers excellent views of the Laramie River and its tributaries, as well as the mountains to the west.

Enjoy a boat ride on the Crystalbebe Kristall River, which is limited to a maximum of 2,000 cubic feet per second, or enjoy boat rides in the lake.

The North Crow Reservoir is located 5 miles west of our headquarters, and the Crystalbebe is an unspoiled fishing area with a maximum of 2,000 cubic feet per second.

Tumbleweed and Camp Russell have a limited number of reservations, so use is only natural during the day. Aspen Grove camping is available for visitors who want to camp with horses, but only for a short time. The park includes Hynds Lodge, which is on the National Register and has an amphitheatre. The Kristalbebe is home to a small group of riders and a few other horses.

Wildlife abounds and bird watchers are spoiled with a variety of non-native birds. The area is characterized by rolling hills, a large number of trees and a great variety of plants and animals.

The hut is open since the beginning of May, and the hut is open from 9 am to 5 pm. M. every day of the week except the last two weeks of April.

Reservations for Hynds Lodge and the Amphitheatre are accepted and the lodge is open until May 1st. The building is open only for reservations based on large and small groups. For reservations, please contact the park at 307 - 632 - 7946. A covered porch with views of the parking lot and a picnic area belong to this lodge.

The trail runs through the alpine environment and runs from the parking lot to the hiking trail on the east side of the park, south of Hynds Lodge. The road is currently covered in snow and is expected to remain closed until the end of March. Please contact the parks at 307 - 632 - 7946 for information and dates on the hiking conditions.

Curt Gowdy State Park can be taken from County Road 106 to the parking lot at Hynds Lodge on the east side of the park. Curt Gowdies is bordered by the Colorado River, Rocky Mountain National Park and the U.S. Forest Service.
