About Cattail Cove State Park

Whether you want to swim, fish or just relax, Cattail Cove State Park is a great way for the family to enjoy the tranquility of Lake Havasu. With a wide range of activities available to everyone, it is one of the most popular state parks in Arizona and the only state park in Arizona.

The 2,000-acre park has been operated by the Arizona State Parks Board since 1970, and the 45-mile-long lake is a haven for all kinds of water sports. When the Colorado River was dammed near Parker, the dam caused the formation of the Havasu Sea.

If that is not your style or you have your own boat, you can visit one of the 28 campsites along the waterfront. You can also rent a boat to sail on the blue waters, sail in the quiet bay, fish for striped bass and eat at Sandpoint Cafe.

The surroundings of the park are also a paradise for rock dogs, and there are many of them around the Havasu Lake.

Further from the water you will find Mesquite, Prosopis, Saltbush and Atriplex spp. Other national parks in the region are characterized by the presence of a variety of plant and animal species, such as birds, reptiles and amphibians. These include Great Salt Lake and Havasu Lake National Park, as well as the Grand Canyon of the United States.

The Belt is home to many of the bird species found in the park, including the Great Salt Lake Blue Egret and the Arizona Golden Eagle. The stream system and a number of other waterfalls also provide an excellent habitat for birds.

Occasionally a group of bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) have been spotted in the park, and several toads and lizards have been found in Cattail Cove State Park. A number of other non-native species are also common, such as the Great White Egret and the Golden Eagle of Arizona. As in many areas of Arizona, CATTails Cove State Park is home to a variety of bird species, reptiles and amphibians. Some species are introduced by chance and others are targeted by humans, but these non-native species come in many different ways.

Cattails Cove State Park is home to a number of specially introduced plants, as well as many other plant species from around the world.

Drinking water is available on all campsites, but what comes first does not have to be saved first.

Arizona has contributed more than $1.5 million in federal and state funds to stabilize the riverbank.

Swimming is allowed in closed swimming areas and on sandy beaches, but at your own risk. The maximum length of a caravan in the park is 40 feet, and swimming is only allowed on closed beaches.

Fire is not allowed, although other fire safety regulations apply, such as hydrants, fire shafts and extinguishers.

Non-motorized vessels can start at any boat ramp, but please call to obtain a permit to launch a boat 35 or longer, provided it is at least 35 feet long.

A valid Arizona fishing license is required for all anglers under 14 years of age and can be purchased at any of the park's fishing stations or at the Arizona Department of Fish and Wildlife. Border strippers, perch, catfish and crappie can also be caught in the creek system, on the banks and in creek beds. The park has been using fish cleaning stations, but only for fishing, not recreational use.

Enjoy a picnic during Ramada or on the beautiful sandy beach or camp at one of the many picnic spots in the park for a day of hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking and more.

The trail starts in Cattail Cove State Park and follows the shores of Lake Havasu until you have access to a boat and campsite provided by the Office of Land Management. To reach this path, follow the path from which it starts on the south side to the north side of the lake. The McKinney Loop, which is partly uphill, will take you back to CATTails Cove, and then follow this path along Lake Havasu to picnic at one of two campsites, one in the park and the other at the boat dock.
