About Lake Ouachita State Park

Lake Ouachita is known for its clean water, which forms the largest artificial lake on the Arkansas border. Surrounded by the Ouachesita National Forest, Lake Ouachesita is one of the most beautiful lakes in the state of Arkansas and the second largest lake in Arkansas after Lake Arkansas.

Lake Ouachita State Park is the gateway to this popular water sports lake and is home to fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and other recreational activities. The park contains the historical spring of the three sisters: the Ouachesita River and its three sister rivers, the O'Hara River, as well as the river and the lake.

The visitor center in the park has exhibits and shops, and there is a visitor center with information about the history of Lake Ouachita State Park. The fully equipped cabins comprise seven with lake views and one with forest views. Other parking facilities include a multi-storey car park with parking for up to 10 vehicles and a large car park with two parking spaces.

The bedrooms on the ground floor with double beds consist of a single bed, a double bed with two beds and a double room with two beds on the ground floor and the second bed with a double bed with three beds.

The first room on the ground floor has a single bed with two beds and the second room with three beds with a double bed and a triple room.

Towels and bed linen are provided and a telephone is provided for free local calls. Kitchenette with basic cooking utensils for up to six people, as well as hob, hob, oven and hob-dishwasher.

The park currently has a preferred maximum occupancy of 10,000 square metres per campsite, but this pitch is being expanded to accommodate larger campers. An additional fee may apply for a maximum occupancy, and the park reserves the right to limit occupancy to the maximum permitted number of persons.

The trail starts at the amphitheatre and circles the entire peninsula back to its beginning. The main attraction is a viewing platform overlooking the lake from the end point, but nature lovers, photographers and geologists can stroll along the slopes to get a view of Lake OUACHITA and its surroundings.

The trail is perfect for those driving two miles west of Hot Springs on US 270 and parking at the park entrance. The trail features a variety of unique species found throughout the region, as well as interpretative signs.
