About Killens Pond State Park

The new Killens Pond water park offers entertainment in a quiet, natural environment. A drive from the northern and southern borders, Killen Pond is the perfect base for exploring the First State. The heart of the park is a 66-hectare mill pond where boat trips and fishing are possible. Nature and leisure activities are available at KillENS Pond State Park, centrally located in the heart of Kent County.

Open all year round, campsites and cosy cabins are popular retreats throughout the park during the season. The Murderkill River and the surrounding hardwood forest are the origins of the pond.

According to legend, the unusual name of the river refers to the murder of William Muhlenteich, one of the earliest settlers in Kent County. At the end of the 17th century he created the Killens Pond, a 66 hectare mill pond 1,000 feet deep.

In 1965, Killens Pond, a peaceful oasis, became a national park under the auspices of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Park Service, and in 1965 became a national park.

The family cabins can accommodate up to four people and have a total of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a dining area. Outside there is a picnic table, barbecue and porch and you have additional amenities and magnificent views of the pond. The cabin rental company will receive a deposit of $5,000 for the first two weeks of your stay and $1,500 for each additional month.

The cabins must be rented on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and reservations for Friday must include a Saturday. The cabin can be rented on the first Friday of the month from 10 am to 5 pm and is available on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, on Monday and Tuesday from 5.30 pm to 9.45 pm and on Wednesday and Thursday from 7 am to 10.15 pm.

Reservations are accepted for seven (7) months prior to arrival and for a maximum of three (3) days per week from the first Friday of the month.

At Killens Pond, wooded campsites are a popular attraction, and this year the complex has 59 pitches with electricity and water connections to accommodate tents and recreational vehicles. There is also a primitive tent loop, which includes only 17 walkways and cycle paths. Although pets are not allowed in the cabins, campers can bring pets in their tents.

The new water park at Killens Pond is the first of its kind in the state and one of only a handful of water parks in Connecticut.

For a maximum water experience, the rotating water slide with its specially designed paddling pool is available to you to experience a top-class experience. There is also a floating path and the two water slides (one on each side of the park) of the water park make getting in and out easy. It is a pleasant way to enjoy a warm summer day, especially for children and families with children in tow.

After work, hungry swimmers can enjoy a short dip in one of the many pools in the water park, such as the swimming pool, the pool by the pool or the hot tubs.

In the Swim Shop you can sunbathe and swim from 10 am to 6 pm, and in summer you can rent a rowing boat.

The Murderkill River Canoe Trail is a challenge for adventurous paddlers, and in summer you can rent a rowing boat. The pond is a popular spot for patient anglers waiting for the perfect fishing spot on the river, or a great place to kayak, canoe, hike, fish or kayak.
