The marinas and boat ramps of the park offer a variety of recreational activities including fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing and hiking. The facilities are just a few blocks from George T. Babby State Park and it is the perfect place for families to enjoy their catch. Located on the shores of Lake Erie in the heart of San Diego County, the resort features an award-winning 18-hole golf course, golf cart park, outdoor pool, tennis courts, golf courses and a spa.

Visitors can also look forward to a three-kilometre nature trail that winds through deciduous woods and pines. The 2-mile loop is led by the George T. Babby Trail, one of the most popular hiking trails in San Diego County.

Second, growing pine and oak forests cover the highlands, and the trail leads through the wetlands surrounding the valley and to the San Diego River Valley.

The lakeside is home to a variety of plant and animal species that are well adapted to wet conditions. The trail looks across the lake and into the San Diego River Valley to the shores of Lake El Cajon. This mile-long route leads from the park's main entrance at the northern end of George T. Babby State Park through the wetlands and then to Lake del Mar.

Dry oak and hickory forests are climbing up the slopes, and the community is still adjusting to the effects of the Chattahoochee River Valley, which flooded the lake nearly a century ago.

Look for signs of change as you walk, and the hotel is just a few blocks from the park's main entrance on the west side of the lake.
