About Sandy Point State Park

This 786-acre park along the Chesapeake Bay is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Opened on 25 June 1952, the park offers a range of activities for all ages, from kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, boating, hiking and fishing to kayaking and paddling.

At the southern end of the boat ramp there is a crab fishing pier, and the Marina Store also sells crab accessories. In the South Beach area, there is a food concession offering snacks and beach picnic supplies at the "Marina Store" as well as food concessions on the beach.

Fishing is possible on land, but for persons 16 years and older a sport fishing license is required, and a fishing license is available at the Marina Store.

Hiking, two hiking trails offer unique views of the diverse habitats throughout the park.

Symbi Trail is an old pine forest planted with plants, which leads through swamps in various stages of growth. The East Beach Trail leads from the Point Area through the forests of the swamp to East Beach and from there to the beach.

The manor house, currently under private management, dates back to the late 17th century, when the park was a farm. The property houses a number of historic buildings, including the Old Manor House and the New Manor House.

There is a small launch for small boats and nine accommodation units that can accommodate up to 140 people. Twelve picnic accommodations are available for groups upon reservation; one of these accommodations can accommodate 300 people; two of the accommodations can accommodate 180 people each and three of them can accommodate 200 people or more.

The lido is also located in the East Beach Protected Area, and the shelter includes a picnic area, picnic tables, a fireplace, an outdoor dining area, and showers and showers.
