About North Higgins Lake State Park

North Higgins Lake, which is located on what was once the largest seedling site in the world, offers a variety of natural features such as lakes, rivers and streams, making the park attractive for outdoor activities. Year-round camping is being held for the first time this summer at North Higgins State Park, north of the city of Higgins.

The Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center is located next to the park, and the Upland Nature Trail includes a number of fitness stations. The park borders the state - farmed land and borders the North Higgins Lake State Park in the town of Higgins, Illinois, about 30 miles north of Chicago, Ill. State farmed land and the adjacent state administers land in the north - central part of the county.

The educational center is home to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the state Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The Museum of Public Heritage documents the CCC's role in restoring American jobs during the Great Depression. Between 1933 and 1942, the Michigan C CC planted 484 million trees,
spent 140,000 days fighting wildfires, and built more than 1.5 million miles of roads, bridges, roadsides, and bridges. More than 2,500 volunteers from Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin were enrolled in the CCC to conduct a variety of conservation and reforestation activities.
