About Otsego Lake State Park

The park, shaded by large oaks, maples and pines, is one of the most beautiful parks in the state of New York. Otsego Lake State Park borders the Great Lakes, Lake Huron and Hudson River to the east and west, and the Mississippi River to the west.

Lake Otsego was founded in the 1920s as a national park and offers more than 2,000 hectares of nature and leisure opportunities. The park covers 62 hectares of leisure activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing.

Two thirds of the 155 campsites are located in the northern part of the campsite, known as Highbanks. In 1935, the Civilian Conservation Crop (CCC) built buildings and further improved the site. The land was bought very cheaply by a timber company that had cleared the land, and the remaining buildings of the C CC are the original campsites and a number of other buildings on the north side of Lake Otsego.

Most of the pitches are large, flat and shady, but the other third is deeper and closer to the lake and is located on the southern campsite. The terrain is slightly uphill, and some sides look out over Lake Otsego from the north side of Highbank, others not, like the one on the south side.

The Otsego Lake Park store offers a wide selection of camping equipment, camping equipment and camping gear. The shop is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm and from 12 pm to 6: 30 pm and is open from 11 am to 4 pm on weekends and 1 pm to 4: 45 pm on weekdays.

The park has an accessible fishing pier for boats and there are areas for daily use in the parking area.

Fishing is generally good all year round, but some species are bluefish, bluefish, redfish and other small fish as well as some larger fish.

The beach protection is located directly on the beach and offers comfortable seating for 50 - 75 people. Vehicles may drive to both beach houses, but not to the main house on the beach or to any of the other buildings in the park.

The Point Cabin is located in the picnic area and can accommodate 50 - 75 people, but vehicles are not allowed near the shelter. There is no electricity for this accommodation and it is without electricity or accommodation, so please do not camp in it.

A barrier-free waterfront path leads to the North Beach bathing area and there is a full-day area that includes volleyball and horseshoe courts. Boat rental is possible in the concession area, please contact the park for reservations.

The Otsego Lake Park store offers a wide selection of clothing, shoes, accessories and other items for sale. The shop is open from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and from 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

All items found must be checked by park staff and stored for further investigation. Metal detection is recognized as a legitimate recreational activity, as long as it is performed in a manner that does not harm or violate applicable state laws.

Take I-75 to the village of Waters and drive three miles to Old 27 and drive on Old27th to W. Wdrive and then on West Lake Road four miles to Oak Ridge.
