About Young State Park

Young State Park is located at the eastern end of beautiful Charlevoix Lake and covers 560 acres in Char Levoik County. The park offers a variety of hiking trails, hilly terrain and scenic views of the lake and the Great Lakes. It is the largest national park in the state of Michigan with a total area of 5,000 hectares and a population of about 2,500 people. This building, which exists today, was officially opened in 1921 and built by the Civil Protection Agency in the years 1930 - 1940.

Lake Charlevoix is one of the largest lakes in the state of Michigan with a total area of 5,000 hectares and a population of about 1,500 people. The lake also offers access to Lake Michigan and the park has a jetty for boats up to 16 feet in length.

Every year, rainbow and lake trout are caught in Lake Charlevoix, and the ponds are filled with sunfish and sea bass. Mirror Pond offers some of the best fishing spots for children with a variety of fish species, such as bluefish, redfish, blue trout and whitefish.

There is ample parking for caravans and cars on the large sandy beach at Lake Charlevoix.

Overlooking the beach and a grassy picnic area, there is a classic log cabin and concession shop.

Cross-country skiing is a very popular winter sport, and there is plenty of space for nature to jog and learn in the park. Trailhead is located at the park's headquarters on Boyne City Road, with access to the Trailhead at the northern end of Lake Charlevoix and Lake.

Boyne City has a mushroom festival, Charlevoix has Venetian festivals and Horton Bay sponsors a Fourth of July parade. Young State Park will host a Thanksgiving celebration from October 10 to 12, 2008. It offers a variety of activities for children and adults as well as a range of events for adults.
