About Saint Joe State Park

St. Joe State Park is the third largest park in Missouri, covering 8,238 hectares, with about 2,000 hectares reserved for the state's first road riding facility. For more information about specific rules of violence, please contact the parking office at (417) 888-467-5477 or the parking office in St. Joseph, Missouri. St. Joe State Park is located in the heart of Missouri's premier mining industry, where much of the country's premier ore has been mined for lead ore for more than a century. In 1972, St. Joe Minerals Corp. ceased operations and donated the land to the states in 1976.

Visitors can spend their days outdoors exploring several thousand hectares of forest and camping on the campsites of the park. The park also has two campsites that can accommodate campers, an ORV and horses, and an equestrian facility for horseback riding and hiking.

The historic mill building where St. Joe Minerals once processed lead ore is still standing nearby and has been designated as a Missouri Mines State Historic Site. Here you can enjoy the historical mining history of the region and the oldest mining facility in the country.

St. Joe State Park has two campsites and has its first publicly accessible campground in over 50 years, with a total of 6,000 square feet of parking space.

The price for each campsite does not include the cost of a day permit, and the campsites you use depend on the type of recreational equipment you have. If you do not have an ORV or horse, you can stay as long as you want to camp in camp 1, but if you have a horse, you must use camp 2. You can also stay all day in camp 3, or even two days as many days a week as necessary, for just $5 a day if that's all you need or all the time you wanted to camp.

If you have an off-road vehicle or horse and want to camp, ask the park staff to find you a place, but if you need to have an off-road vehicle (ORV) or a horse, you can request a permit from the park staff at the campsite entrance to find a place.

Due to the high demand for tents in the park, it is recommended to reserve in advance. Please observe the capacity rules for each campsite to ensure that all sleeping units, vehicles and trailers can be accommodated on the campsites. Minimum stay of two nights is required, check-out is at 14.00 and check-in It is 15 h for all campers. If the number of appliances or vehicles exceeds the regulations, you may have to buy an additional campsite.

Please leave all wheels and tires on the tarmac or floor of the vehicle for at least one hour before and after parking.

Tents must be pitched on the designated area and not in the parking lot or on any other parking area than the main parking lot.

The campsites are nicely shaded and equipped with picnic tables, fireplaces and lampposts. All rules and regulations are displayed on the campsite and all safety regulations are followed, such as driving at 10 km / h or slower on the campsite.

It is only accessible via a horse trail and is the only trail in the park with a trail head at the northern end of the campground on the east side of St. Joe.

The campsite ($1) has a $40 electric vehicle parking space and those interested must check with the parking office. There is no parking for the campground on the east side of St. Joe State Park, but there is a small parking lot next to the trailhead for $5 per vehicle.

Provided that guests comply with the safety regulations, guests staying overnight may unload and use their ORVs for transport to and from the campsite, but not for transport between the campsites.

People with overnight ORV guests may not park or unload in the tents, and these facilities are only accessible for overnight guests. Visitors can travel with their Orv to a campsite to visit it, but must be unloaded at an ORv rest area. You can park and unload at any of the camping sites at St. Joe State Park.

If you would like to bring your ORV with you, please visit the Trails page for more information and to make sure it is safe for you and your family. These campgrounds are the first to come, the first to camp in St. Joe State Park and the rest of the park.

Frost-free hydrants are available at campsite 42 near the landfill and the shower house at the campsites. 1 and 2 are closed from November to March.

Firewood can be purchased from November to March at the park office and from October to November and from January to February at the campsites.

At Campsites 12 and 13 there are frost-free hydrants, which can be used in low season. Camping # 2 has a fireplace with a water supply of 1,000 gallons per day, and it is a half mile walk from the park office to the campsite.

There are two towing hitches at each campsite and you have to make the first trip from the parking office to your first - serviced - campsite.

Frost - free hydrants are available at every campsite and can be used in low season, but not in high season. A coin-operated RV washing facility is located in camp 1 and is accessible to all registered campers.

Swimming is only allowed in the lakes of Monsanto and Pim, but both lakes are easily accessible and have excellent beaches. Large shelters and picnic tables are located in Lake Monsanto, and a large picnic table at Lake PIM.

Pim Lake Beach is smaller than Monsanto, but it behaved well, with lots of picnic tables, picnic benches and a large picnic table. Both lakes have changing rooms and showers, as well as a changing room in the PIM.

Children under 12 years of age and adults over 65 years of age are not allowed on the beach. It is not permitted to take photos or writings of the owner of this website or any of its owners.

Use is permitted, but tools must not be more than 2 inches in diameter, no longer than 1.5 inches long and at least 3 inches wide.

Diving is allowed in the lakes of Monsanto and Pim, but participants must be certified or accompanied by a certified diver. Diving equipment such as a diving mask, diving suit and diving mask must be provided with a marker that indicates the location and must be attached.

The use of gas-powered engines is not permitted and divers must get on and off the boat at the park office. In Saint Joe State Park there is a gravel boat ramp, open all year round, but no boats are allowed on the lake.

Fishermen looking for perch, catfish and cappies can throw their fishing rods into all four lakes of the park. To reach the lakes Apollo and JoLee, a fishing permit must be requested at the entrance. Entry fee is $1 per person per day, or $5 for a family of four and $7 for adults with children under 12.

Lake Monsanto is the largest of the four lakes in St. Joe State Park, with an average depth of 1.50 m.

Apollo Lake and JoLee Lake are nearby, and the smallest of these four is Pim Lake, at a depth of 3 feet and 2 inches, respectively.

The boat can be used on all four lakes, but only electric motors are allowed, and to reach Apollo and JoLee you must present a fishing license. Several picnic areas with tables and barbecues are located in the Pim Day area, as well as a large picnic area with picnic tables, picnic chairs and tables.

The accommodation is available free of charge, based on the "first come, first served" principle and can be reserved for up to 30 days. If not reserved, you can reserve for as little as $5 a day or up to four days at a time.

Picnic areas for barbecues are available, but picnic tables are only available on the south side of Lake Monsanto, in the Pim area of the park. You can also use the picnic area at the entrance to access Monsanto Lake Beach from this area. In the area "Pim" there is also a vaulted toilet with water and a children's playground, as well as picnic areas and barbecue facilities. Monsanto's lake stretches about 2.5 miles from the northern end of St. Joe State Park to its southern end.

On an area of about 2,000 hectares there is an equestrian centre for ORVs, a swimming pool and a boat area, which are intended for leisure, camping and other leisure activities.

The ORV rest area is located north of the park office and covers an area of about 800 hectares and consists of a partly wooded steep slope with an area of about 2,000 hectares. The rest areas consist of two campsites, one in the middle and the other on the east side, partly wooded and partly on steep slopes. It has two cabins, a vaulted cabin and a dressing room, as well as a picnic area with picnic tables and chairs.

For off-road vehicles a daily fee of 3 dollars is required, for the ORV rest area 5 dollars and for campers 2 dollars.

The Red Trail is a 7.5 km loop that starts and ends at Pimville Road and is one of the most popular hiking trails in Saint Joe State Park. The path partly follows a small stream and is quite rocky, while the other is the best earthly path.

Visitors can park on a large paved lot where there is a vaulted hut with bar where you can get a drink, a picnic table and a few picnic tables and chairs.

Motorised vehicles and horses are not allowed on this route, but cyclists, hikers, skateboarders and roller skaters are allowed to use the route. From the parking lot to the entrance of the park there is a cycle path and on the east side of St. Joe a hiking trail.

The Blankshire - Harris Branch intersection is located on Pimville Road and the other access points to the trail are located at the Blankhire Road intersection, the parking lot of St. Joe State Park and on the east side of the park. The toilets are located in the car parks of the Blanshire and Harris branches and at the river crossing. Water is available in both places, as well as a well and a public water pump at each hiking trail.

The terrain ranges from flat to fairly steep in each section, but there is a spur that connects the Pim Tag area with the cycle path. The section north of PIMville Road is 8 miles long, the section south of it 3 miles and the sections east and west 2 miles each.

Lakeview Trail is a 1.5 km loop that can be reached from the Pim Tag area via PIMville Road, the bike path and the seafront. There is a 0.2 km partially asphalted path, which is accessible to ADA, and a 2.4 km long section of the trail to the east and west. The late section of the trail that connects the bike path with Lakefront Trail and Lake View Park is also mostly flat, but there are some steep sections, such as the approximately 800-meter stretch from Pimm's Road to Pims Tag Road and an 800-meter steep stretch on the west side of Lake Park Road. A 1.5 km spur connects the northern and southern sections of Lake Park Trail with Lake View and covers a total of 2 km of flat terrain.

The rest of the trail is flat, steep and stony and suitable for hikers and mountain bikers, but it is bounded by a 1.5 km stretch of flat terrain and a 2 km section of steep terrain suitable for hikers or mountain bikers.
