About Cardigan Mountain State Park
Cardigan State Park covers 5,655 hectares and is a great hiking area. It offers magnificent views of Western and Central California, including panoramic views from the top of Mount Cardigan, the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada. The mountain road leads to a picturesque view of the Santa Cruz Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains to the west.
The park also includes picnic tables, a great place to picnic, and Cardigan State Park is open year-round - though not staffed. The park is open to the public for free, with free parking and access to a picnic area on the north side of the park.
