About Deschutes National Forest

Located in central Oregon, the Deschutes National Forest covers more than 1.6 million acres and stretches from the Cascade Mountains east to the Columbia River and south to Lake Oswego, Oregon. Enjoy the volcanic mountains that form the crest of the Ascade Mountains and enjoy a variety of recreational and scenic opportunities in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and other national forests.

Streucamping is the term for camping away from developed campsites with other campers and camping in a state forest without a designated campsite. Many like to camp in the Deschutes National Forest and other national forests such as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and many do.

Scattered camping means that there are no toilets, no treated water or fire grates, and no additional responsibility or skill is required for scattered camping. Spread camping allows for a more comfortable and comfortable camping than in developed recreational areas. Many people drive off a forest road into the forest and find a clearing or a place near a stream with a view of the mountains.

It is our responsibility to know that we can make new experiences differently than on our typical campground or other recreational areas.

It is a well-developed campsite with its own parking lot, for which no additional charges are levied.
