About Ridley Creek State Park

Ridley Creek State Park covers more than 2,000 acres and is located within the boundaries of the park. Only about ten miles from the city center there are rolling terrain and Parks crisscrossed by Ridley Creek. The area, now called Sycamore Mills, was formerly known as Bishop's Mill and Providence Mill. In the 18th century, a small village was built on the site of the mill, where a number of historic buildings still stand today.

Ridley Creek State Park is one of the largest parks in the United States, covering more than 2,000 acres.

The parks were bought in the 1960s with funds from Project 70 and developed with money from the Soil and Water Protection Fund. The park was called the "Park of the Future" and opened to the public in August 1972. Parking and offices are located on the south side of Ridley Creek Road, south of Interstate 95.

The property is built around a stone farmhouse dating back to 1789, which forms the core of the building and serves as a reception centre.

Ridley Creek is well stocked with trout and offers excellent fishing, but there is one area that is only suitable for fly fishing.

The fishing platform is wheelchair accessible and is located at the end of the paved, busy path, right next to the main path. The vehicle permit must be obtained at the parking office and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission law applies.

This area is equipped with toilets and a charcoal grill and is accessible to all ages and abilities, as well as disabled and handicapped people.

On the premises there is a picnic pavilion, which is open from 8: 00 to 16: 00 and is served first. In the area from 8 - 11 - 17 clock there is a picnic pavilion, which can be reserved for up to 11 months against advance payment. A large field is suitable for sporting activities and has a large picnic area with picnic tables, picnic chairs, a barbecue and picnic table, and an area for camping.

The park offers a variety of environmental education and interpretative programming, and the practical learning experience offers participants the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the natural world and its natural resources, as well as the importance of conservation.

For information on planning a group program, please call 610 - 892 - 3908 or contact the park office. Environmental education specialists also provide environmental education and interpreting services at the Ridge Creek State Park Visitor Center and Park Service Center.
