About Brandywine Creek State Park

The 933 hectare park is divided by a grey stone wall built at the end of the 19th century from local stone.

At the time, the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family, and in 1965 the unique area became one of the first parks in the country to be bought with funds from the country's water conservation fund. This makes it an excellent place to see the beautiful views of Brandywine Creek and its surroundings as well as the river.

Try the Rocky Run Trail or the Greenways Trail, which winds along the creek, and observe the many species of falcons. The park has a number of hiking trails as well as a variety of picnic areas, such as the picnic area and picnic tables.

Open fields are open to the public and feature a number of haunted houses, including a haunted house, haunted barns and an old, contemporary farmhouse.

Fishermen can fish for perch, bluefin and crappie in Brandywine Creek, and fishermen and boaters can kayak along the creek. Canoeing and inflatable boats are also a popular way to experience Brandwine and offer interpretative programs throughout the park. The modern BrANDYWINE Creek Nature Center offers a variety of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, canoeing, fishing, kayaking and rafting.

The gift shop is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm and is open from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and from 1 pm to 4 pm.
