About Raccoon Creek State Park

Raccoon Creek State Park has evolved into a theme park operated by the National Park Service since the 1930s. The park's facilities are part of the state's parking system, a collection of state parks in the United States and Canada.

Raccoon Creek National Recreation Area was established by the National Park Service in the 1930s.

The park's 7,572 hectares include the beautiful 101-hectare Raccoon Lake, and there is a large area of undeveloped land next to the recreation area.

The conservation work in Parkland was carried out by the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC), a division of the US Army Corps of Engineers. The park's recreational facilities were built in the 1930s and 1940s with funding from the National Park Service and other federal agencies. For more information on the CCCC, please visit the Civil Protection Corps online archive.

In 1945, a planned land transfer was finally carried out to create Raccoon Creek State Park, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania continued to develop facilities including the park's water park, picnic areas, playgrounds, and other recreational facilities.

Each of the ten modern cottages has its own bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room. The cabins have electric heating and can be rented all year round. Up to five people can be accommodated per cabin.

The cottages can be rented all year round with electric heating and air conditioning, but tenants must bring their own food, water and other essentials. Each three bedroom cottage sleeps up to ten people and is equipped with its own bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room. The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen with bar, large dining area and an outdoor fireplace.

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the park, and pets are not allowed in the lodge or nearby, but pets do not cause any problems for visitors.

All three camps are rented for a small fee and organized by a non-profit organization that is open to the public. The camp bees are open from 9 am to 4 pm on weekends and from 10 am to 5 pm three days a week.

A rustic farm is available and 172 modern tent and trailer pitches are open from 9 am to 4 pm on weekends and from 10 am to 5 pm three days a week. Access is not guaranteed in the event of severe winter storms, so reservations must be made at least two weeks before the park's opening hours.

The wooded campsites offer a variety of camping options, from primitive to modern tents and trailer pitches. Each place has a picnic table and a campfire, and some places even have picnic tables and rings around the fire.

The campsite of the Sioux Group is divided into three campsites: campsites B, B-1, 2 and 3, all accessible for disabled people. The two camps are located in the western part of the park and are divided into two groups: the Sioux Group and the Black Hawk Group.

Unless otherwise stated, lifeguards are in use during the summer months and when not in use, the rules of swimming must be read and followed. A bathhouse and a snack bar are nearby and are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm from June to October.

The 101 hectare Raccoon Lake has two berths and 42 berths. Boat rentals are available for kayak, canoe, fishing, kayak and rowing boats, as well as kayaks and rafts.

All non-motorized boats must meet one of the following requirements for boat registration: All motor boats must have up-to-date boat registration and all kayaks, canoes and rafts must be registered.

There are picnic areas for barbecuing, drinking water and toilets, and there is a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic chairs, tables and chairs and picnic table.

Unreserved picnic pavilions will come first, be served first and can be reserved for up to 11 months against advance payment.

The park offers a variety of environmental education and interpretation programs, with an emphasis on wildlife, water quality, species conservation and natural history. Participants will have a guided walk through the park's natural areas and access to a range of interpretative activities.

Curricula and environmental education programmes are offered to schools and youth groups. The Wildflower Reserve Interpretive Centre offers a wide range of educational programs for children, adults and children of all ages. Programs are offered all year round, but group programs must be agreed in advance. Group programs can be arranged via the Park's website or by phone at 1-888-542-4357 or by e-mail at [email protected].

Raccoon Creek State Park is located in southern Beaver County and PA 18 runs right through the park. For more detailed information, please contact the Wildflower Reserve Interpretive Center at 1-888-542-4357 or by email [contact] [email protected].
