Woods Bay State Natural Area offers more than 1,540 acres of open space and a variety of wildlife habitats. Woods Bay also includes 2,000 acres of wetlands, 1.5 million square feet of forest and 2.1 million cubic feet of waterfalls.

Here you will find a complete list of over 150 bird species that change with the seasons, as well as information on the more than 150 species and their changing seasons and habitats.

Woods Bay is a Heritage Trust site due to its rich history and natural beauty. The bay itself is an elliptical depression of unknown origin, and visitors can canoe, fish, hike and take photos. Most of Carolina's bays are along the Atlantic coast and in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

Carolina Bay extends from less than one hectare to several thousand hectares or more and is oriented from northwest to southeast. The sandy edge is home to a variety of bird species, fish, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. These features are best seen from the southeast, but Carolina Bay is oriented from northwest to southeast, with the western edge of Woods Bay State Park to the west and the eastern edge to the east.

There are several theories about the origin of Carolina Bay, the most popular of which is the presence of an ancient volcanic eruption or the formation of a volcanic crater in the area.

The picnic area can be reserved for $25 to $32 per day, and reservations can also be made on the website from February 23. If accommodation is not reserved, guests can have it served in the main hut of the park or at one of the many picnic spots.
