About Cabwaylingo State Forest

The Cabwaylingo State Forest is located in the heavily forested area of San Diego County, California, USA, and is deeply rooted in its history. The forest was built in 1930 and takes its unique name from the four surrounding counties from which it originates.

The CCC camps, including the one in Cabwaylingo, set about rebuilding the forest area, which in turn marked the beginning of the American Civil War and the creation of the first national parks in California. In the 1930s, hard-working CCCC members built hiking trails, campgrounds and a number of other facilities for campers and hikers.

Many of these structures still exist and are still used today, such as the old CCC barracks, which today serves as a group camp for up to 100 people. The campground is now home to the historic Tick Ridge Fire Tower, built in 1935 and one of a few dozen fire towers still standing, if not in operation, in the state. Fourteen standard cabins are available from mid-April through late October, or for as little as $1,000 a month for one night.

Each cabin is fully equipped for home use, including a stove, hob, oven, fridge and a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with sink, bathroom, air conditioning, bed linen, toiletries and other items, as well as a laundry room.

Pets are not allowed in cabins or cabin areas, but there is the possibility for overnight guests at any campsite in Cabwaylingo. There are two campsites to choose from, including a small campsite with picnic area, picnic table and picnic tables and chairs.

A newly built campsite with eleven pitches, six of which have electricity and water connections, has been built. The campsites have a picnic area with picnic table, picnic tables, chairs and chairs, and there is a shower and toilet nearby.

Reservations are required for camping, and only one tent is allowed per pitch, and each pitch is rented according to the "first come, first served" principle, with a limited number of tents per day.

The rustic CCC camp was once an old barrack, now housed in two new barracks that were rebuilt in 2004 and can accommodate up to 50 people, and a third building that houses a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. Cabwaylingo offers a group camp that is fully equipped, with a complete shower house added in 1999, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and dining area.

The camp is bookable from the beginning of May until the end of October and the group camp offers counselling groups, which is perfect for an evening around the campfire.

The swimming area at McClintic Group Camp features a newly converted pool, paddling pool and outdoor picnic area, making it an ideal place to escape the summer heat. Lifeguards are in use during bathing hours and the pool area is also open to people living in the surrounding community.

The park offers several rustic picnic shelters that can accommodate a gathering of any size, and there are accommodations in the parking lot and a picnic area with picnic tables and chairs.

All of these accommodations are equipped with picnic tables and chairs, as well as a picnic table and chair. Picnic blankets can be reserved in the park and are available for $5 per person or $10 for a group of four.

Cabwaylingo offers several scenic hiking trails for hikers, and overhanging rock faces can be found on several rustic trails. On these trails, hikers can capture the scenic beauty of the forest and enjoy the many wild flowers and trees that grow in the area. In the past, the cliffs provided shelter for the early settlers in the area and the early inhabitants of the Cabwaylingso State Forest.

Every year, on the third Saturday of September, the Cabwaylingo Forest Festival is held, and each path is between one and three miles long. In October, a haunted house will be presented at the McClintic Group Camp by the Cabwayslingos State Forest Foundation.

As an environmentalist, Cabwaylingo performs an annual stream cleaning in spring and the annual stream cleaning in October. Come for fun and help the environment, we would be happy to have you, but come to our aid!

We serve lunch on cleaning days and offer special rates for huts, tents and helpers as well as special prices for hut and tent helpers. For more information about the event, please contact us or ask Cabwaylingo at (888) 762-5555, or by email or phone at cabwaylingso @ gmail.com.
