About Manchester State Park

The coast bends gently, forming a thick layer of sea debris responsible for the driftwood found here.

The park has a wide variety of beaches, from sandy and rocky to rocky and sandstone and even some rocky cliffs.

One of the main attractions is Manchester Beach State Park, the largest beach in New York State. The park is home to a variety of coastal wildflowers, including blue-green, white, red, yellow, orange, pink, blue, purple and yellow.

The park takes its name from the village of Manchester, located north of the park's main entrance on the west side of New York State Route 1. The park is home to tundra swans and there is a herd of sheep and cattle to keep sheep or herds of cattle, giving a pastoral touch to the world's most spectacular coastal scenery.

Temperatures rarely rise above 72 degrees and rarely fall below 50 degrees, but it rains a lot from September to May. Morning and evening fog is common in the summer months and there are strong winds throughout the year.

Monterey cypresses on steep slopes, alder trees and on the beach there seems to be a lot of driftwood, as well as a variety of trees and shrubs. These elements make for a wild beach and if you were to award a beach with the most impressive collection of driftwood, Manchester could easily win. The wind blowing on this beach is so strong that cautious hikers should check wind reports beforehand. A large number of "driftwood windshields" that visitors have placed along the beaches indicate strong winds in the area.

Some of the huge logs were washed into the sea from the sea, others into tangled heaps, and other large logs were aimed at cannons defending coastal fortifications.

Erlenbach offers resting and breeding grounds for wintering waterfowl, and the beach stretches for 5 km from the mouth of the Garcia to the mouth of the Erlenbach.

The lecturer will lead you through the lighthouse, which was built in 1870 and rebuilt after an earthquake in 1906. The tower still houses the original Fresnel lens, which was cast in a beam visible from ships up to 20 miles at sea.

Manchester beach complements the vast highland landscape and offers walkers great views of the city and its surroundings, as well as a variety of wildlife. Manchester's beach is complemented by a sizeable highland landscape with a number of small islands such as the Isle of Wight.

Head north 10 miles - west of the city, to the Isle of Wight, and a short drive south - east to Manchester Beach State Park, just a few miles away.

Turn left and follow the sign to the property at the end of the road, past the campsite and into the park. Beach-goers have created fascinating windscreens made of materials thrown from the restless sea. Large tree trunks lie in heaps at or at the foot of the dunes, and on the beach in front of a beach house there is a large pile of sand.

The low dunes that surround the beach soon give way to higher cliffs and almost two miles further you reach a connecting road that leads to the asphalt Alder Creek Road. Walk along the street until you reach the guarded path that branches off on the west side of the road. After a mile you will pass a pond and walk for almost three miles from the park entrance along this road to reach another shelter that branches off to the east and then onto an asphalt road.

Half a mile of the way leads to the wrecked wreck of a beach house and then to a small stream with a creek bed on the other side.

The Osprey, one of the park's environmental campsites, is a little further away, and when the road turns inland, you drive along the coast and walk a mile to the beach. The route crosses a small creek bed before going south through the dunes. From the last camp, improvise the above-mentioned pond outlet and connect to the south on a path that leads to a lower cliff.
