About Eden Gardens State Park

The focal point of the park is Wesley House, a beautifully renovated two-storey house in the centre of the city. Surrounded by moss - draped gardens of living oak and a large lawn - it inspired the vision of a hoopskirt landaristocrat.

Louis XVI has the second largest furniture collection in the United States, and Lois Maxon bought and renovated the house to create her own museum. The park is part of an estate owned by the National Park Service and the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Guided tours of the house are offered on all public holidays, including National Day of Mourning, Labor Day and New Year's Day, as well as weekends and holidays.

Visitors can enjoy the grounds, gardens and picnic area daily from 8 am to sunset and park visitors from 12 pm to 4 pm. Eden Gardens has a public boat ramp and canoe moorings, as do many other state parks in Florida. At the end of County Road 395 there is a private boat parking lot and a public boat ramp maintained by Walton County. Boating is limited to Tucker Bayou, the only public waterway in the national park and the largest in Walton County. Please bring a small fish hook or fish hook with you, but no small fish or have them on you.

The pass that connects Bayou to the bay is described as "flat" and is not serviced for navigation, so boaters who are not familiar with the water should be careful. Tucker Bayu is bordered by a relatively shallow body of water, which offers a good view of the park and its surroundings, as well as the creek and bay.

It is recommended that boaters who are not familiar with the water do not attempt to move in the shallows. The best way to access the deeper waters is to enter the inland coast east of Tucker Island and then drive west from Choctawhatchee Bay to West Bay. Every craft grown on this land is the responsibility of the artisan company.

Larger vessels may not be allowed to enter shallower waters and the recommended speed is limited to 30 km / h or more.

The grounds, gardens and picnic area are open daily from 8 am to sunset and hourly tours are subject to a small fee. The house is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm for a free guided tour of the house and grounds.

A picnic area next to the parking lot is available on the old mill site at Tucker Bayou. Eden Gardens State Park is located on the west side of Austin, Texas, south of downtown Austin.
