About Round Lake State Park

Round Lake State Park is located on a 58-acre lake surrounded by 142 acres of forest at an altitude of 2,122 feet. The lake is the result of glacial activity dating back to the Pleistocene, and it is one of the oldest lakes in the United States and the largest lake in North America.

On one of the three paths hikers will find beaver huts, a dam and a pond, and often elk. Robin inspects campsites while the sea breeze carries smoke from campfires, Ospreys jump into the lake to catch trout and perch, and robins ravens inspect a campsite while a sea breeze carries smoke from a campfire.

An afternoon breeze makes the water of the lake swell, divers dive into the waves, red-winged blackbirds screech, children play on the beach and birdsong echoes through the lakes.

Standard campsites are limited to trailers with 24 or less people and facilities include campsites, picnic tables, showers, toilets, laundry facilities and a picnic area. There are also pitches for single and twin rooms and pitches for tents.

Reservations for Round Lake Camp are possible from May 19th to September 4th and will come first, served first. Camping is also possible on weekends from June 1st to July 4th and from August 4th to October 31st.
