About Centennial Trail State Park

Centennial Trail State Park is a 37-mile asphalt trail that is managed from Riverside State Park in Riverside, California. The park consists of a paved path from the Centennial Bridge to the waterfalls on the west side of the park, as well as several other paths.

The trail is interspersed with 42 historical and archaeological sites, most of which are not yet marked.

The trail follows the Spokane River and is marked along the way with historical and archaeological sites, some of which are still marked. The park consists of a two-mile network of hiking trails that stretch from Nine Mile Falls near Spokane to the Idaho border.

The park is open all year round - for daily use and is open all year round, on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm and on weekends and holidays from 8 am to 9 pm and 5 pm to 10 pm.

The trail is called the Centennial Trail and was inaugurated on July 1, 1937, as part of Washington State's centenary celebration. At the milestone of 36, visitors can explore the park's most famous path, the Spokane River Trail. Archaeological research was carried out at the site and it was found that life goes back 11,000 years. Studies have found evidence of past civilizations using it for transportation, eating and meeting.

The trail contains 42 historical sites, most of which are unmarked, as well as a large number of historical buildings and buildings from the past.

On the way west along the state border, you will pass the first bridge built over the Spokane River in 1864 and the white settlement that preceded the town of Spokane. At milestone number 2 is a monument to the horse slaughterhouse, the place where U.S. Army Colonel William Wright and his men gathered and killed more than 800 Indian horses to prevent future Indian uprisings.

Downstream from Maribeau Park is Plantes Ferry County Park, which Antoine Plante operated from 1852 to 1864, when the Spokane Bridge was built. In December 1855, Isaac Stevens, the area's first governor, met with Upper Middle Spokane.

There are two campsites in the nearby Riverside State Park: Bowle- and pitcher-pitcher-pitches, which were both cleared. A day at the park costs $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

The Nine Mile recreation areas consist of four campsites of different lengths, each with its own amenities and facilities. The maximum length of each pitch is 45 feet, with possibly limited availability, and the maximum width of the pitch is 60 feet.

Several signs point the way to sites of historical and archaeological interest. Further signage is planned, although most marked areas are not yet marked and some are not marked at all.

The park trail follows the river from Nine Mile Falls, WA, to the state line of Idaho and from there across the Spokane River. The 37-mile park is one of the largest state parks in the United States and is located north of Spokane, Washington, south of downtown Spokane. Centennial Trail reaches a major intersection that crosses the Theokane River at the intersection of Interstate 90 and Interstate 5 in Spokane County, Idaho.
