About Harrison-Crawford State Forest

The Harrison - Crawford - Wyandotte Complex is located in the central and far south part of the state, between the towns of Harrison and Crawford and the western part of Crawford County.

The forest covers over 26,000 hectares, including the Wyandotte Caves recreation area, with a total area of 2,500 hectares. The area offers drinking water, camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing and camping at the Stagestop campsite, which also offers a Class C campsite for youth meetings. Canoe access ramps are available at the "stagstop" campsites, as well as access to the stream and river.

Drop-off stations are also available at Stagestop campsite, Wyandotte Caves recreation area and several other locations.

Register at the campsite check-in - stand in the stand and ride your horse to the trailhead for a free ride through the forest. It is an independent structure and can be ridden on horseback, on foot or on foot with the help of a guide or other volunteer.

Within the picnic areas of the cabin there is a picnic area and a cabin for daily use, picnic tables and barbecues are located in the picnic area, a picnic table and a barbecue.

Accommodation is permitted and the principle of "first - come, first - served service" applies. The cabin can be hiked from the cabin to the cabins for one night for a fee of $10 per night or $15 per day.

The Hickory Hollow Nature Center offers a variety of exhibits and exhibitions, and year-round naturalists are deployed as part of the National Park Service's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Nearby is Wyandotte Caves National Recreation Area, which offers guided tours. The program is awarded annually by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), around the clock.
