About Greene-Sullivan State Forest

Greene - Sullivan State Forest is one of the most beautiful and tranquil places to visit, and this is just the beginning. Greene-Sullivan was founded in 1936 when several coal companies donated more than 3,000 hectares of land to the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources.

Other popular activities include hiking, biking, camping, hunting, fishing (if you're not fishing, there's something for you) and hiking. The forest has rolling hills and a variety of animal species, making it one of the state's most popular hiking and camping destinations.

Primitive camping (class C) is available for a fee and the campsites are based on the "first come, first served" principle. Each pitch has a pit toilet and seasonal drinking water, and self-inspection stations are located on each campsite and in the Forestry Office. Primitive and Class C tents as well as Primitive classes C and C + camping are all available free of charge.

Another 20 horse campsites are available at the equestrian campsite at Ladder Lake, and there is also a landfill. All have picnic tables and barbecues and each has a pit toilet and seasonal drinking water as well as a picnic table and barbecue.

In fact, the forest offers some of the best fishing in the state, and with more than 120 lakes scattered across the country, there will never be a short fishing opportunity. The reservoirs, 26 of which have a total capacity of about 1,500 cubic feet per second of water per hectare.

Most lakes are covered in whitemouth, bluethroat and sunfish, and one state-certified bluethroat weighed 3 pounds.

Airline Lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and some lakes have catfish, oxhead, cappie and warthogs. About 60 lakes are easily accessible via the county road and have runways made of gravel or gravel. Some of the boat trips are limited to electric motors, but if you enjoy the tranquility of fishing, several lakes can only be reached on foot, providing a more secluded fishing experience.

The muscle lung has been storing in Bass Lake since autumn 1997, and by the year 2000 the fish should have reached a harvest of size 36.

Hikers and riders should wear hunting orange or light coloured clothing such as hunting boots, hunting gloves and a hunting hat during the hiking and hunting season. For hunting in the park, a valid hunting license is required, as well as a valid permit for the use of trails and hiking trails.

Picnic tables and barbecues are available in the picnic area, and there is a variety of food and beverages, such as hot dogs, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, chips and chips.

Wheelchair-accessible picnic tables are available at Engener See, reservoir and 26 Schutzenhaus as well as at the picnic area on the west side of the park.

In addition, Greene - Sullivan offers an archery range, which is maintained by the DNR Forestry Office in cooperation with the local shooting clubs. The area includes 15 targets scattered along woodchip paths to simulate hunting conditions.
