About Lewis and Clark State Park

If you visit Lewis and Clark, take a moment to visit the L.C. Replicas designed by Butch Bouvier. One can imagine the expedition winding down the Missouri, pulling and rippling the 55-foot boat.

Lewis and Clark State Park is located on the meandering and scenic Missouri River, which formed an ox arch many years ago. The park is named after Captain William Clark of the US Army, who was commissioned by President Jefferson in 1804 to lead an expedition to the Northwest to explore the vast territory bought by France. On August 10, 18.04 the expedition reached Lewis & Clark State Park, and Lewis and Clark led a keelboat with 26 men and supplies.

From there they explored the region and headed to the Missouri River and its tributaries, the Columbia River and the Mississippi River.

The National Park Service has designated the park as Lewis and Clark State Park, the oldest national park in the United States. Every year, thousands of people visit the park to relax outdoors and learn a little more about Lewis & Clark's expedition. The beach is a nice place to sunbathe and swim, and the Blue Lake (250 hectares) offers a variety of water activities.

For easy access to the lake, there is a double boat ramp and a motor size, but from the parking lot of the park there is a double-decker bus.

The lake is on the verge of extinction in order to renovate it, but in a few years there should be excellent fishing opportunities.

Lewis and Clark campsite is a great place to spend a relaxing holiday in the countryside. The main attraction is the Lewis & Clark Museum, built by volunteers and park staff on site. On the shores of the lake, in June, there is a festival with a variety of music, handicrafts, food and drinks. Buckskinners "clothing and a number of other local and national festivals, such as the annual Buckskinners Festival in July.

Modern rest rooms and showers are available, as well as a trailer tipping station, which is available in trailers and at the tipping stations.

Reservations for campsites can be booked in advance through the Park Reservation System, and about half of the campsite is available on the "first - come, first served" principle.

The lodge in Lewis and Clark was built in the 1930s by the Civil Conservation Corps and can be reserved for a fee. The lodge in Lewis & Clark is strikingly similar to the original Clark Mountain Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, but much smaller.

Lewis & Clark is a popular spot for family picnics, and two open-air picnic shelters can be rented from the park office and are available for picnickers on the "first come, first served" principle. The park has been carefully maintained with respect for the public and the environment, especially the wildlife.

There is a lodge at Lewis & Clark that can be reserved for a fee, but it was built by the Civil Conservation Corps in the 1930s and is open to the public.

Blencoe is about 10 miles west of Lewis & Clark State Park, and 12 miles east of Highway 175. , Onawa is located about 5 miles north of the national park and Blencoe about 6 miles south.

Council Bluffs is 65 miles south of Interstate 29, Sioux City is 40 miles north of I-29, and Council Bluff is 35 miles west of the National Park and 25 miles east of Highway 175.
