About Geary County State Park
In 1959, the Forestry, Fish and Wildlife Commission acquired 282 hectares, which have since been used as a combined game and fishing area.
Shortly after the purchase, the creek was dammed and about 97 hectares of water were taken, the rest of the 185 hectares were planted.
After a five-year drought, the lake was replenished and demolished in 1992 to modernize the boat ramp and create a fish attraction and brush stack.
