About Kincaid Lake State Park

Surrounded by open forest, this campsite offers all the modern amenities a camper can expect: a multi-purpose room with kitchen is available.

The beautiful surroundings offer a variety of compensation holes, creating a truly unique golfing experience at all levels. Kentucky Golf has a number of different golf courses, from par-3 holes to short putts, and the beautiful nature of the course itself makes the golf test enjoyable for all players.

There is a capacity for 175 people, with a parking space for up to 30 cars and a picnic area with picnic tables.

On August 22, 1955, the Kentucky Property and Buildings Commission passed a resolution authorizing the development of a state park in northern Kentucky. No further action was taken until the creation of the park by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the State of Kentucky in 1956.

The Kincaid Park Development Association transferred 800 acres to Kentucky to create the lake and national park. On July 9, 1958, K incaid Lake State Park joined the Kentucky State Parks System as a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Park System.

The association, founded in January 1955, had campaigned for the establishment of a park in Pendleton County. On September 17, 1957, members of the Kincaid Park Development Association and surrounding counties were already working to preserve land for a planned park.

Citizens raised money to buy land around the lake for the park, and in the summer of 1958 the
Ministry of Fish and Wildlife granted a grant to clear the land on which the lake was to be built.

The dam with the Kincaid Creek was built in 1961 and opened to the public in 1963. In 1960, the park was renamed Falmouth Lake State Park by K incaid Lake State Park, but some residents said the name should be changed back to Kinaid for historical reasons.

Between 1960 and 1967, the development of Kincaid Lake State Park included the construction of a new parking lot, a pathway system and a water park. In 1969, K Inaid Lake State Park was officially renamed again, and the state spent millions of dollars on development and improvements from 1960 to 1969.

The park covers 850 hectares and also has an amphitheatre with 300 seats where films are shown weekly, as well as a water park, swimming pool, ice rink and picnic area.

Fishing offers opportunities for perch, bluefish, catfish and cappie, and the park also has a small lake with a depth of 1.5 meters and a length of 2 meters. In the park is the Boston Steele log cabin from 1878, the second oldest in Pendleton County. It also features a picnic area, an amphitheater, water park, swimming pool, ice rink and picnic areas.

The house is built of nails, and the buildings are held together only by wooden pegs and swallow joints. The house was built in 1878 with nails, the second oldest log cabin in Pendleton County after the Boston Steele cabin.

Nails remained rare and expensive in this part of Kentucky in the 18th and 19th centuries, and builders learned to build houses and barns by mounting wooden piles so that the old structures remained stable when erected. The campsite has a central service, built around a relaxation room with shower.

Pets are not allowed and do not keep pets in the park, except dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, birds, reptiles and amphibians.

The swimming pool by the lake is popular with sunbathers, and the bathhouse serves as a pool and is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. You can call to confirm the bathing time, which is determined by the number of people in the park, many of whom return from school in mid-August. The swimming pool will be open also in the summer months, except the first two weeks of September.

Kincaid Lake State Park offers a variety of outdoor activities, from kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, boating and rowing to hiking and cycling. Tackling for sale in the park, as well as a number of other activities such as kayak and paddle boat rentals.

The unspoilt nature highlights the beauty of Kincaid Lake and is ideal for picnics, offering all the amenities a family needs to enjoy hearty home cooking and a daily catch. The marina is open from 15 March to 31 October and you can rent the year in advance or buy it in the year. This lake is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, boating and fishing, as well as for hiking, biking and cycling.
