About Straits State Park

The park has a total area of 1.5 million square feet of land, with an average of 2,000 acres per hectare.

The Father Marquette Memorial is located in Straits State Park, and Soo Locks and Tahquamenon Falls are just over an hour away. Overlooking Mackinac Bridge, the hotel is just 1.5 km from the ferry to and from Mackinsac Island.

The Father Marquette Memorial is located in Straits State Park and the park has a long history as one of the oldest state parks in the USA, founded in 1924 and home to the Great Lakes National Park System.

It tells the story of the life and work of Father Marquette and his wife Jeanette and their children Jacques and Marie.

At one end is a viewing platform overlooking Mackinac Street and Mack-inac Bridge, and at the other end is a different view. A hiking trail leads through the park and you can visit it for about an hour.

Mackinac Island is an area four miles from Lake Huron, and there are three ferry lines to the island. Souvenir shops and restaurants are located in St. Ignace, as well as a number of restaurants and shops on the islands.

Many campers leave their caravans in the park and head to Mackinac Island for a weekend of camping, fishing and camping.

St. Ignace is known for its hiking trails and the Labor Day, which takes place every year under the Mackinac Bridge. Fishing is allowed in the park, with the best fishing opportunities located west of Mackey Bridge. The water in front of this park is too shallow to fish well, but the nearest boat moorings are close enough to the coast to provide a good fishing experience.
