About Worthington State Forest

The Worthington State Forest is one of the most popular hiking trails in New York State. The rocky, sometimes steep path follows Dunnfield Creek from the Delaware River in Mount Tammany to the mouth of the stream on the eastern edge, and hikers may opt for a shorter, more scenic route through the forest or a more strenuous hike. A pond that has been in the area for millions of years and was excavated by glaciers during the last ice age.

The path surrounds the pond with many boulders and openings for rest and observation, and Campsites 1 and 77 have modern toilets and showers.

There is also a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic chairs and picnic tables, and a small picnic pavilion with benches.

There are 26 km of hiking trails in the park, including a 1.5 km path to the Delaware River and a 2.6 km path through the forest. A small picnic area for families has been added, which offers a small picnic table with picnic chairs, picnic tables and picnic benches. The path in this park is within walking distance, but it is located in a peaceful, scenic hemlock forest along the Pennsylvania State Forest, just a few hundred yards from the river.

A new educational trail, the Rockcores Trail, has been developed to provide natural and historical information to park visitors. This challenging climb on the Delaware Water Gap Trail (1.5 km) rewards park visitors with panoramic views of Delaware and the Water Gap.

From April to October, the campsites offer seasonal and year-round interpretive programmes, including for schools and organised groups. For special dates and times for events, please contact the office for more information or information on the educational programs and activities of the park.

Hikers, fishermen, bird watchers and other naturalists can follow the trail from the main path of the park to the stream and its tributaries. This area is designated as a wild trout stream and is home to a wide variety of fish species, birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, insects and birds.

Swimming and camping are allowed in the area, but you have to be aware that you have to live in bear country when camping there. After a steep and rocky climb along the Appalachian Trail, you will reach an impressive glacial lake surrounded by chestnut and oak forests. Monitor the caretakers at your campsite, who will explain the importance of leaves, leaves and other plants and animals in the area.

Take Route 80, turn right at the end of the ramp and the office is located three miles to the left.
