About Jacobsburg State Park

Jacobsburg offers a variety of environmental education programs, ranging from preschool environmental awareness programs to environmental problem solving. The rest area has a multi-purpose path, Henry's Wood offers a very nice walk, and the rest of the park is almost entirely a park. Jacobsburg State Park offers a range of outdoor activities, from hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking and more.

The office is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. The main car park, the multi-storey car park and the park visitor centre are also open from 11 am to 5 pm on weekdays.

The original site for the centre was bought by the Ministry of Forest and Water and the City of Easton in 1959. In 1969, 70 additional areas were purchased for this project with funds from the National Park Service (NPS) of the United States of America (USA).

The total area of the centre thus reaches a total area of 2.5 million square kilometres. At the foot of the Pocono Plateau, at the northern edge of the Lehigh Valley, there is a rolling terrain with a range of habitats ranging from fields in various stages of growth to mature deciduous forests dominated by oaks.

Jacobsburg's natural resources are of great interest to many visitors to the area who move and relax outdoors. In an ever-expanding urban environment, public resources that offer natural spaces are becoming increasingly important, especially in view of the increasingly urbanised nature of our country.

A network of trails makes Jacobsburg State Park one of the city's most popular hiking and cycling destinations. The facilities are available to hunters and non-hunters alike, and it is recommended that non-hunters wear bright orange during the hunting season.

Jacobsburg opened an environmental education center in October 1985 and is one of four environmental education centers that operate under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the City of Jacobsburg. The Ministry wants to contribute to the development of a citizenry that is aware of our environment and its problems, but also capable of working on solving current problems and preventing new ones. Jacobsberg's environmental education program includes a range of quality programs, including environmental education for youth and teachers, that address the importance of solving environmental problems such as water quality, climate change, biodiversity and biodiversity conservation.

The Centre's programme staff also offer community programmes and support ecological research, while supporting regional and national programmes that serve the needs of local communities and the national and international community. Anyone interested in participating in a learning experience in Jacobsburg should contact the center's office for program planning and reservations.

The Jacobsburg National Historic District is located in the eastern part of Ohio, north of Cincinnati. The District's history is interwoven with the early development and growth of our nation and is on the National Register of Historic Sites.

Jacobsburg's story focuses on industry, which played a key role in the American Industrial Revolution. Henry's first arms dealer, William Henry, opened his first arsenal in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1750. During the Revolutionary War, Armorer became one of the most important arms dealers in America and an important supplier of arms to the US Army.

William Henry II founded a small weapons factory in Christian Springs, near Nazareth, in 1778. In 1792, Wilhelm Heinrich II bought land in Jacobsburg from Jacob Hubler, who named the village after Jacobsberg.

Henry II built a weapons factory in Jacobsburg, and a smithy and flower smithy were built to supply iron for the weapons factory. In 1795 a larger factory was built for a large state order for weapons.

Three successive generations of Henrys produced small arms until the end of the 19th century, when the mass production techniques used by small arms companies rendered Henry's craft and technology obsolete. Heinrich weapons became the most prominent weapons on the western border, and Heinrich is remembered not only for his production, but also for the fact that he was responsible for a large number of weapons such as cannons, cannons, cannonballs, mortars, muskets, rifles, pistols, shotguns, machine guns and other weapons.

Only the foundations of the colonial village of Jacobsburg are still preserved, and only a small part of it is still in use.

In 1989 the association also acquired the John and Joseph Henry House from the estate of Mary and Henry Stites. The house, built in 1832, is surrounded by 23 acres of scenic beauty and is operated and managed by the Jacobsburg Historical Society. Henry's homestead (built in 1812) is located on the east side of the park, in the area leased by the Bureau of State Parks.

The Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center is accessible from PA 33 and is located on the east side of the park, next to Stites House.
