About Pisgah National Forest
The Pisgah National Forest is a national forest with waterfalls, scenic views and heavily forested slopes. It covers over 500,000 acres and is bordered mainly by the Appalachians, Blue Ridge Mountains and Great Smoky Mountains.
It is also home to the first forestry school in the United States that is preserved and has a designated wilderness area. It is a national forest, acquired in 1911 under the Weeks Act. The Pisgah, Grandfather and Appalachian Ranger districts are located within the national forests and offer visitors the opportunity to relax outdoors and enjoy the natural beauty of these mountains.
