About Benson State Park
Simon Benson is the executive director of Benson State Parks and a member of the board of directors of New Hampshire State Parks. Picnickers love the park, which is located south of Mt. Vernon, near the intersection of State Street and Fall River Road. Free Fishing Day is an annual event that takes place on the first weekend in June. For more information, call 1-800-551-6949. There are three main picnic attractions in Benson: beach, stream and lake.
Everyone can bring their own fishing line and try to catch the thousands of rainbow trout that arrive at the lake between March and October with the included equipment. There is a small lake where motorboats cannot be used, so it is ideal for rowing boats and swimmers.
