About Tillamook State Forest

Welcome to the Tillamook State Forest, managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry. This website is a great source to better understand the history, ecology and management of this state forest and the current state of the forest.

The forest is divided into two districts, Forest Grove and Tillamook, and this site provides information about each district as well as information about the state of the forest as a whole.

For all those interested in all these interests, Till amook offers a wealth of opportunities for exploration, exploration and learning.

Tillamook State Forest Visitor Maps are available in the mail, so grab your gear and head out for a day of hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hiking and more!

The campsites are located in a variety of forests, rivers and landscapes, and there is a developed fee system for the management of campsites on the principle of "first come, first served."

There are also numerous scattered camping opportunities throughout the forest, and most are available from Memorial Day to Oct. Most are open until Memorial Day, but please note that current fire safety regulations may come into effect.

Tillamook State Forest, one of the largest and most diverse forests in the state, offers over 1,000 miles of non-motorized trails and is managed for various recreational uses. It offers a wide range of hiking, cycling and camping opportunities, as well as a range of other activities.

Head to Gales Creek Trail and climb to the top of Königsberg to enjoy remarkable views, or take your horse along to one of the Tillamook State Forest's most popular hiking trails, the Kinshasa Trail.

The Tillamook Forest Visitor Map and Guide is available at the Tillamook State Forest Visitor Center in Portland, Oregon, or at your local park or hiking trail. The Till amook State Forest offers a wide variety of hiking, camping and recreation opportunities, as well as scenic views and wildlife.

The varied hiking trails lead to the more remote and scenic parts of the forest and offer challenge and excitement for beginners and advanced. The OHV areas in particular offer a wide variety of trails for mountain bikers, hikers and motorcyclists as well as cross-country skiers and snowboarders.

Current information on hiking trails can be found in the OHV hiking reports, but many are currently closed. The Tillamook Forest Center will open on April 1, 2006 and offers training and further education for hikers, mountain bikers, cross-country skiers, snowboarders and motorcyclists.

A network of interpretative websites and media offers an engaging way to discover Tillamook. Interpreting programs help you discover the history, ecology, history and culture of the State of Oregon, as well as the natural and cultural heritage of this beautiful forest.

For visitors who want to learn more about Tillamook State Forest, there are regular forest interpretation programs. We have a special program for groups who love nature and want to learn about the history, history and culture of the state of Oregon and the forest itself. Special arrangements can be made for these groups, please call us to arrange a program item and to arrange the program.

The group size is limited to 15 people, with at least two adults and two children under 12 years of age.

The Gales Creek Overlook invites you to pause and look at the revitalized forest of Tillamook State Forest and its surroundings. The few remaining giant trees stand on the ridge and remind us of what the forest looked like before that fateful day in 1933. This site offers a rare glimpse of the relatively young Douglas fir forest planted after the fire that scorched almost all of the original forest.

A cedar kiosk next to the stone wall complements the view and offers good views of the forest and Tillamook State Forest. The Sunset Safety Rest Area, which borders the State Forest of Clatsop on Highway 26, offers a short interpretative trail loop that provides a glimpse into the past, present and future of the Oregon State Forest.
