About Camano Island State Park

Camano Island State Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York State, with a population of about 2,000 people.

The park offers a wide view of the surrounding mountains and offers opportunities for mussel harvesting. The park is open all year round for tents and day, but in winter the campsites are closed.

In summer, the park is open to the public from June to October and from September to November.

The park offers a variety of activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking and much more.

The first inhabitants of Camano were the Kikalos (Snohomish Indians), who used the island as a summer residence to collect seafood and berries. During the last ice age, the area was covered by a glacier that formed the shape of the islands and contributed to the construction of beaches with its high feeder banks.

The first European settlers arrived on the island in 1855 and began large-scale logging, later the farmers came and developed the area agriculturally. The island was renamed after the Spanish explorer Jacinto Caamano and is referred to as cal - lut - chin, meaning "land that juts into the bay."

The first development took place in 1949 on the property designated as a park, and in July 1999 the park celebrated its 50th birthday. Most services are available within a few miles of the parks, such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and fishing.

Reservations are required for campsites in Camano Island State Park and are only served by First - come, come - in low season. The campsite has a driveway with sun beds for campers up to 40 feet and a parking space of about 2000 square meters.

Reservations can be made online at the Camano Island State Park website or by calling 1-888-743-4357. Annual tickets can also be purchased at the park office, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During the summer months, there are two boat ramps available, and on weekends, during peak hours, from 10 am to 6 pm and from 7 am to 9 pm, staff are available on site.

The park on the island of Camano has an 18-hole golf course and during the day it has a large ball court. During the summer months of the park, interpretative programs and a variety of educational activities are organized by volunteer groups.

Read the fish and games in the regular and local newspapers, as well as in the local newspaper, the Camano Daily News and other local publications.
