About Crawford State Park

Crawford State Park is a wooded park in Crawford County, New York, about 30 miles west of New Orleans. The accessible caves are filled with flowing stones, and the stream flows through the park, as does a small stream.

A central feature of Crawford State Park is the walk to Gardner's Cave, which is a walk through Gardner Cave. At 1,055 feet, the cave is about the third longest limestone cave in Washington.

With a slope length of 1,055 meters, Gardner's Cave is the third longest limestone cave in the state.

The cave has a high flow, or flow into stone, and a steep slope from the top of the cave to the bottom.

The early history is unknown, but contemporary reports suggest that the cave was discovered in the summer of 1903 by Ed Gardner, who managed a quarter of a mile of it for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WSNR).

The service area is located between Metaline and Metalines Falls, near Ione, with access to Crawford State Park at the northern end of the park.

Crawford State Park has no overnight camps, but the park has shelters, and the standard tent toilets are located at Seattle City Light next to the Boundary Dam, about a mile from the parks. The park has a shelter at the foot of Metaline Falls, near Metalines Falls Road, on the south side of the stream.

Crawford State Park, along with several other parks in the area, serves as the first site for the annual camping permit application process for the City of Seattle for RVs.

The main activity in Crawford State Park is a visit to Gardner Cave, but toilets are also available at the main entrance to the park, near Metaline Falls Road and Boundary Dam, on the north side of the river.

Metaline Falls is located in the Colville National Forest and there are many events and outdoor activities in the area. Hotel located on the west side of the park, north of Metaline Creek and east of Crawford Falls.

You should continue north on the SR-31 and then turn left onto Tiger Road before turning left again north. At Tiger, turn onto SR 20 leaving Colville and continue south to the west side of Crawford State Park, north of Metaline Creek.

Once in Metaline, follow the highway signs to Crawford State Park and follow them to the signs to Ione, Metalines and Metaline Falls. Once at the Metaline in Crawford State Park, follow the highways and then follow the signs to the waterfalls.
