About Kanaskat-Palmer State Park

Kanaskat - Palmer State Park is one of the largest parks in the state of New York and the second largest in North America. The park has a 2-mile coastline along the Green River, with a total area of 1.5 million square feet of parkland and 2,500 acres.

Activities along the coast include nature experiences, trout fishing and picnics, and white water rafting and kayaking are available in the park. White water rafting and kayaking is only for experienced people and is done exclusively by hand, either by boat or raft from the beginning. It is a high level of difficulty and can cause serious injury or death to those who try.

Fishing and picnics appeal to visitors with more moderate tastes, and the park is open year-round for tents and day trips.

Cinnabar, a basic ore for mercury, is also mined at the plant, and the nearby Flaming Geyser gets its methane flames from coal seams. In Kanaskat - Palmer State Park, coal has been extracted for many years, as in many other parts of the state and even in the USA, and there is a rich mining history.

In Kanaskat - Palmer State Park you can visit coal seams, coal mines and other mining sites in the park, as well as the coal mining operations.

The Four Corners shopping centre is 8 km away, Enumclaw 10 km and the shops and delicatessen are only 3 km from the park. The park has its own parking lot with a garage and parking for cars and trucks, as well as parking for vehicles.
