About Davidsonville Historic State Park

The park preserves the site of historic Davidsonville as part of Old Davidson County State Park, the oldest state park in the United States.

The city was founded in 1815 and included the city of Davidsonville, a small town of about 1,000 inhabitants in Davidson County, North Carolina. In the 1830s it was forgotten, bypassed by railways and the railways and later by the Civil War and World War II. Today, park exhibitions and interpretative tours inform important border towns about the important borders of the city. Facilities include four hiking trails, including a self-guided walk through the old town and a picnic area with picnic tables and picnic benches.

Fishing is now an important activity here, and the Black River boat barge is bordered by a 12-acre fishing lake and barge that provides access to the city's main waterway, the Davidson River, as well as a few small lakes.

Fishermen can also choose from nearby rivers such as Spring and Eleven Point, and tributaries cross the river. Take a stroll along the banks of the Black River overlooking Philips Reeves Cemetery, plunge into history or climb over the dam on the south side of Trapper's Lake. The trail, which is located on historic city grounds, runs through the surrounding forest and runs parallel to the Davidson River, offering views of the city and its surroundings.

Take US-63 to Black Rock Highway, then a few miles south on the highway to Old Davidsonville State Park or take US 63 to BlackRock Highway.

Twelve exhibits along the way tell the story of the culture of historic Davidsonville. Travel back in time to visit the historic town of Old Davidson County and its history, culture and history.

Enter through a small gate of time that focuses on the memories of a bygone era, with a view of Old Davidson County and its history and culture.

The cemetery is believed to date from the Davidsonville era, and headstones with unusual inscriptions commemorate the early settlers from Arkansas. The Scott family has owned and operated the Black River ferry since 1927, as well as a number of other businesses in the region.

Other features are an old - growing forest with flowering dogwood, a small stream and a large pond.

Take US 63 onto Black Rock Highway and then US-63 south to Old Davidsonville State Park, just south of the town of Davidson.

The Trapper's Lake Trail winds through a 12-hectare lake created in the 1980s for fishing and wildlife watching. The trail leads from the visitor centre on the hill to a bridge that spans the feeder lake and then leads hikers to different distances on the shore of the lake.
