About Bayou Segnette State Park

The Bayou Segnette State Park offers the best of everything and visitors of all ages can enjoy an ecosystem that allows you to discover the plants, trees and animals of the swamp for yourself. By boat you can explore a variety of water sports such as kayaking, canoeing and of course swimming in the waves and pools. Due to the unique location of this park, it is possible to practice saltwater and freshwater fishing, as well as hiking and cycling. There is easy access to the land for hiking, biking, camping, fishing, boating and other outdoor activities.

On the property there is a picnic area for the whole family and a playground that will delight the children, as well as the popular Bayou Segnette wave pool for splashing around. The wildlife is rich and the vegetation is worth a closer look. Taking the time to sit back and watch nature play, which is often caught in this area, is a great way to spend the day with family, friends or even a group of friends. Group camps in the park offer the opportunity for large gatherings, and group accommodation is the perfect place for a large group.

Bayou Segnette State Park has a group camp that can accommodate up to 120 people, and you are also invited to the park's meeting rooms, which can accommodate 60 to 100 people depending on the room situation. There is easy access to the land and with a boat docking you can explore the many lakes, rivers and streams as well as the beach. Due to the unique location of this park, saltwater and freshwater fishing is possible, but only by boat.

The group camp in the park offers the opportunity for large gatherings, and the group accommodation is the perfect place for a large group. Fish, crabs, shrimps, crabs, shellfish and other fish of various species are commonly caught in this area.

St. Bernard State Park is located in the heart of the Bayou Segnette area of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA and features a covered gazebo, picnic area, playground and picnic areas. Stroll through the vaulted casemates, visit the museum and enjoy a lively history programme. This historic masonry was completed in 1827 to defend New York City against the French Revolutionary War and the American Civil War. The Rigolets Guard guards it, as do a number of other historical buildings and monuments.

A nearby boat ramp provides access to the park from Pontchartrain Lake, as well as from the Bayou Segnette Bridge and St. Bernard River Bridge.

The waterway is managed by the National Park Service and the park features paved roads and paths, as well as ruins of brick factories and sugar factories nestled in alleyways and towering oaks.

The State Museum is a collection of artifacts from the Bayou Segnette State Park Historic District and is the only public museum of its kind in Louisiana.

A visitor center and exhibits are located on site, and you can also visit restored plantation houses and Creole cottages in the Bayou Segnette State Park Historic District. Drive down the Mississippi River and discover the charm of Antebellum South by visiting historic sites such as the Louisiana Museum of Natural History in Baton Rouge and the National Historic Landmarks in New Orleans.

Visitors can also visit Beauregard House in Chalmette and the National Cemetery, as well as the Louisiana Museum of Natural History in Baton Rouge.

Free guided tours are available throughout the weekend at the first class bird sanctuary, and you can take a walk through the picturesque wetlands on the west side of the park and the main path of the national park.

On the other side of the Mississippi River from New Orleans is St. Bernard State Park, which houses a museum that shows the history of the Spanish from the Canary Islands who now live in St. Bernard.

There are three main routes to reach the park, and each of them offers an unforgettable outdoor experience. The park offers a variety of hiking and cycling trails, as well as a number of picnic areas and picnic tables.

When you enter Westwego, look right and cross the Luling Bridge over the Mississippi. From there, US 90 becomes the West Bank Expressway for a short time until you cross the Bayou St. Louis County line at the intersection with US-90.

From Metairie, take the Clearviw South exit and follow Clearview to the Huey P. Long Bridge. From there, cross the Mississippi at the Luling Bridge and cross the Bayou St. Louis County line.

Follow the expressway for several kilometers and you will see again to the right on the highway, and on the left you will find the park. Take the Clearviw North exit and follow it to the Bayou St. Louis County line and turn left onto Interstate 10 Expressway.
