About Marsh Creek State Park

Marsh Creek State Park is located in Chester County, Pennsylvania, south of the city of Chester, PA, and is designed to manage the Brandywine Creek Watershed, which drains 330 square kilometers into Marsh Creek Lake, most of which is within Chester County. The 1,705 hectare park includes wetlands, hiking trails, picnic areas, waterfalls, hiking trails and a number of rest areas. There are no problems with the catchment area, but there is a problem with water quality. Marsh Creek Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the United States and the second largest in Pennsylvania.

The construction costs for the dam and lake were shared by the carrier with the State of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources and Chester County.

The relocation of utilities and roads was paid for by the State of Pennsylvania, Chester County, the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources. The total cost of building the dam and lake is $1.2 million, and $2.5 million is to be spent on resettlement and supply roads.

The Chester County Water Authority also acquired land rights for the project, and the land at the site was acquired with Project 70 bond funds. The Department of Environmental Resources subsequently purchased land near the lake from the Water Department for about $1.1 million.

Land and location were acquired through ProJekT70 bonds and funds from the Pennsylvania State Water Resources Department and Chester County.

French Creek State Park is 20 miles north and offers year-round camping, and overnight tents are available in Marsh Creek State Park. Private campsites are located on the west side of the park, near the intersection of Marsh and French Creek streets. Recreational facilities are built and operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in partnership with the Chester County Department of Environment and the Chester State Water Resources Department.

The L-shaped swimming pool attracts many visitors, and a snack bar, sunbathing area and bathhouse are nearby. Flat wading pools and swimming pools are available, as well as a flat wading pool and bathtubs. Unless otherwise stated, all guarded bathrooms are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.

The 535-hectare Marsh Creek Lake has two jetties and 220 seasonal jetties, and the lake is a popular destination for sailors to take advantage of prevailing winds. The use of this pool is permitted, but is open to all visitors regardless of age, gender, age group or gender identity.

A proven sailing boat race attracts spectators to the lake to enjoy activities and programs on the water. Boat rentals and concessions at the East Launch offer a variety of boats, canoes and sailboats for rowing, as well as kayaks, pedal boats and other watercraft. Boats, canoes, kayaks, paddles, fishing, boat and kayak rentals are available all year round.

The park is located on the east side of Marsh Creek Lake, just east of Eagle, Pennsylvania. Access to the park is via the Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA 100 North) and signs point to the park from Eagle.
